Home Town Web Series Analysis:
Who can't recognize a miracle when it happens? No one needs to recognize it after it happens - Dialogue in 'Khaleja'. '90s A Middle Class Biopic' was such a miracle until Telugu OTT. No one recognized it until it was released on 'ETV Win'. There was no need to recognize it specifically after its release.
The series was shot with the elegance of a Telangana accent to touch everyone's heart in a middle-class family. Why now about that series? That is... a miracle happens only once. If you try to do such a miracle again, it will be like a copy. The same thing happened in the case of 'Home Town'.
In terms of story, characters, and scenes, there are no similarities between '90s A Middle Class Biopic' and 'Home Town'. It must be said that both are different. But the series makers tried to give the viewers a '90s A Middle Class Biopic' experience with 'Home Town'. Originality was missed in that attempt.
A younger sister who studies better than her older brother, parents who give more importance to their son than their daughter, boys who yearn to know about their desires when they reach adolescence, innocent people who get fooled by fake accounts on social media... Once in a while, we see them in some movie. The makers of 'Home Town' took them to the Telangana countryside, to the period of 2003 - 2004.
Story background: Some comedy scenes made me laugh because of the time. Many people believed that Gilchrist scored more because of the spring in the bat he used, and that is why Australia won the 2003 World Cup. That scene, along with the Swathi book scenes, also makes some viewers laugh.
Some scenes between the husband and wife in the middle class setting went ahead with comedy for three episodes. However, they made it boring with the fourth episode, which was about Facebook. They stretched out the entire episode to talk about what was said in one scene. It is not difficult for the viewers to guess the fifth episode. The climax twist is something that the average audience can imagine.
Suresh Bobbili's voice in 'Edho Edo...' is very good. It is worth listening to again and again. Such melodious hit songs come very rarely in OTT. He also made his mark in background music. His RR also helped in the comedy workout in some scenes. The production values are adequate for OTT. The quality is lacking.
Regardless of the story, Rajiv Kanakala and Jhansi have captivated the audience with their performances. The scenes between the two of them will definitely impress the family audience. The wife, who has saved the money earned by sewing machines... gives it to her husband, who is struggling to pay the policy. In that scene, Rajiv Kanakala looks back. That one look is enough... it reminds us of the actor in him once again.
Director Srikanth Reddy Palle has shot that scene well, too! The village boy was not seen in Prajwal Yaadma. That boy is the modern kid. His acting in some scenes is okay. Yani acted well as the younger sister. The two boys who played Prajwal Yaadamma's friends did well. They have good comedy timing.
If you start streaming 'Hometown' thinking it will give you a '90s middle-class biopic' experience, you will be disappointed. Without comparing it... if you watch it without any expectations... since there is an option to watch it while forwarding... There is some comedy; the scenes between Rajiv Kanakala and Jhansi will be a bit more enjoyable.
