Touch Me Not Web Series Review: The web series 'Touch Me Not' is streaming on Jio Hotstar OTT. Navdeep, Dixit Shetty, Komali Prasad, and Sanchita Poonacha are playing the lead roles. It is directed by Ramana Teja, who directed Naga Shaurya's 'Ashwathama' and Kalyan Dev's 'Kinnerasani'. This series, which was shot in Telugu, is streaming in Hindi, Tamil, Malayalam, Kannada, Bengali, and Marathi from April 4th.
Touch Me Not Web Series Story:
Raghav Rao (Navdeep) is an SP. His mother (Pramodini) died in an apartment fire accident during his childhood. Raghav takes care of Rishi (Dixit Shetty), who lost his parents in the same accident, and Megha (Comali Prasad), the daughter of the watchman (Devi Prasad), who was responsible for the deaths of the apartment residents.
Rishi, who jumped down with Raghava to save his life from a fire, gets a head injury and gains the skill of psychometry (the ability to touch a person or an object... to tell information about those people or objects). So... what changes have happened in Rishi's life?
Ten years after the apartment fire accident, some people lost their lives in a fire accident at a hospital. How did Rishi's psychometry skills help in that case? How did Raghav deal with that case? How did human trafficking and identity change come into play in the fire accident case, which seemed to move like a string when pulled? When did Rishi come to know that Megha was the daughter of the watchman who caused the death of his parents? Who is the Mask Man (Bablu Prithviraj)? What happened in the end? You should know by watching the series.
Touch Me Not Web Series Analysis:
Hollywood movies have been made on psychometry. This concept is new to Telugu. However, this is not director Ramana Teja's own creation. It was based on the Korean series 'He is Psychometric'. That's the thing! The concept of psychometry is new. But, it has not been used to its full extent.
'Touch Me Not'... This is a crime/murder investigation drama! Crime plays a key role in such stories. The more brutal the crime, the more the interest in the series increases. Who committed the murder? What is the motive for committing the murder? The curiosity of the viewers increases. With twists and turns and magic in the screenplay, there is a thrill if the director keeps taking the story forward.
'Touch Me Not' lacks such a thrill. Only the drama engages in it. The investigation does not create even an inch of interest. Those dialogues only create drama but do not increase curiosity. The investigation seems to be superficial. From collecting clues to the police discussion, everything seems to be rushed and superficial.
Who is behind the murders and fire accidents? Why did they do it? Rather than knowing why SP Raghav is educating the daughter of the person who caused his mother's death? Why did he raise Rishi with him? Why did he know that he likes Megha and why did he not tell Rishi about her? It seems like we need to know the answers to questions like this. Of course... these are the key points in this story. However... the answers are not available in 'Touch Me Not'. We have to wait for Season 2!
Director Ramana Teja took a little more time to get into the story of 'Touch Me Not'. He spent almost an entire episode introducing the couple of Dixit Shetty and Komali Prasad. Even after that, the pace of the story did not increase. The gear did not change.
It moved slowly. It was not difficult for people who watch thrillers to imagine the twists. Mahathi Swara Sagar's background music is good. It created tension at some places. RR was beaten in a way that is not inferior to movies. The production values are good.
Actors' Performance:
Navdeep, Dixit Shetty, Komali Prasad, Sanchita Poonacha... The main cast, like the four pillars of the story, acted well. All four did justice to their roles. Anish Kuruvilla appeared as a police officer. Bablu Prithviraj's screen time is less. He may appear for a longer time in season 2.
Navdeep's looks as SP are good. The character maintained the intensity needed. Dixit Shetty generated some comedy. Komali Prasad showed variations in terms of looks. Devi Prasad, Pramodini and others acted according to the characters.
If you look at the first season of 'Touch Me Not'... Even though they took a new concept (psychometry), they put it aside (using it for comedy) and made this series as a regular and routine crime investigation drama. There is no thrill in it. But, the drama engages to some extent. Unless you are a hardcore fan of investigation dramas and thriller series, you will not be able to enjoy it.
PS: Just like waiting for the second part to know why Kattappa killed 'Baahubali'... If you want to know who is behind the fire accidents, you have to wait until season 2. As if... they know who is behind those mass murders!
